They may physically be DDA compliant, but they aren't certified.
East Lancs-bodied 22515 has gone into service at Slatyford, working service 36 on Thursday 29th Sept. It appears that the batch 22508-15 are all destined for Slatyford, as well as a number of Enviro saloons from Perth. Does this mean that the batch of Enviro MMC saloons 26063-80 are no longer coming here and have been diverted elsewhere ?
Stagecoach North East have just taken a second batch of Enviro 200-MMCs for Newcastle. Fuller details can be found here.

A large number of changes to the fleet has taken place over the last few months:
  • The Kinetics, originally destined for Stockton, have instead been allocated to Slatyford to replace the NK03 batch of MANs
  • Former East Scotland ADL Enviro300-bodied MAN Enviro300s 22570/4/9-81 (SP08 DCV, DDA/L/N/O) have arrived and are being allocated to Slatyford for use on the 100. This will release MK1 Enviro300s 27506-10 to Stockton (27506 has already arrived and is currently being used for Familiarisation) to replace some of the remaining ALX300-bodied MANs at the depot
  • E200MMCs 26063-80 are in the process of delivery to Slatyford depot. These are for services 30/31/36 and are intended to replace MAX ALX300s 22034-51 (aka the 53 registered batch).
  • Ex-East Scotland Scania OmniLinks 24001-3 (SP57 CNE/F/J) have transferred from Dumfirmline depot. Once prepared for service (which might take a while), they will be allocated to Sunderland depot for new service X24 (Newcastle to Sunderland)
Streetdeck Demo SL15ZGP is now here, it's retained it's 80028 number despite being at Arriva and a few other places since being with Stagecoach M&SL. Is operating out of Walkergate on 38s to test fuel usage against MMC's.

Noted MMC decker 10638 on service 38 today. Presumably this will stay on 38s for the duration of the fuel test, and all other turns will remain standard Enviro 400s.

I wonder whether these OmniLinks for route X24 have been refurbished. I know they have at least been repainted. I think they already had leather seats in Scotland.
Right, another huge update:

Slatyford & Walkergate

Following the recent service changes, the following fleet changes took place:
  • Walkergate are now midibus-less following the merger of the 15/15a with the 32/32a - the new 32/32a is operated entirely by Slatyford depot, as such 39721-6 are now once again based at Slatyford
  • The number of Darts is now down to just one - 35194 has been given a reprieve (see below for more details). 35162/3/72 are now based at Hartlepool depot while 35190/1 have transferred to Cumbria and north Lancs for Carlisle depot. 35188 has moved home to South Shields
  • Enviro400MMC 10638 is now based at Slatyford, as is Enviro400 19203
  • '100' branded MAN 18.240/Enviro300 22579 has been withdrawn following a fatal RTC on Redheugh Bridge on the night of 10th May - the damage sustained reported as also fatal and once released from compound is likely to be sold for scrap.
  • Following the service changes, the only MAN ALX300s due to be in use here are 22341-4 at Walkergate, 22345/7/8/408-13 at Slatyford with 22346 in reserve.
  • Further fleet changes in late May saw Slatyford lose 39702-4 to South Shields, replaced by Stockton's MAN Enviro300 24113-5 to upgrade the 71 (City Centre to Throckley) to full size single decker operation

South Shields
Service changes take place today.
Prior to this, MAN Enviro200 39702-4 have returned from Slatyford, releasing Enviro300 27723-5 to Stockton.

Stockton
Ex-South Shields Enviro300 27723-5 are now here, replacing 24113-5 to Slatyford. 27724 has previously been used at Stockton for one day back in June 2012 while en-route to London for the Olympics - it was used to route learn the then-Assistant Operation Manager.

New Saturday-only service X55 started on the 20th May. This runs three times a day - the first journey leaves Stockton to Dalton Park and then onwards to Newcastle with the last departure from Newcastle running to Stockton. The other 2 journeys run between Newcastle and Greatham via Dalton Park. This use ex-West Scotland Volvo B12BT/Plaxton Panther 54045.

Currently parked in Stockton depot is Scania Omnilink 24005 - reason unknown, although it was sighted at Scania Darlington the week before it turned up in Stockton depot yard.

When I was in Newcastle 2 weeks ago, I rode some predictable types. However, my ride on Enviro 200-MMC 26075 was my first such example with Stagecoach, after narrowly missing out on one in Chester. I was pleased to ride MAN-Enviro 200 39715 on route 7 as I had spotted one in central Newcastle in 2015 and thought they had been redeployed to city centre routes. I noticed the MAN-Enviro 300s on route 100 had been refurbished and given pure light blue e-leather seating without any orange relief.

I noticed examples of hydrogen Scania buses covering for Omnilinks on route X24 but didn't ride this route. I had done a hydrogen Scania in Sunderland in 2015.

I was amused to see the destination of route 62, North Walbottle, as I imagine a lot of drink being consumed there! Laugh
MAN ALX300 22012/26/71/2/5/6 and Dart SLF 34611 are in the process of being prepared for their new roles in the training divisions:

22012 is to replaced 22673 in the role of Slatyford's Route Learning Vehicle
22026 will fulfill the same role at Stockton, effectively replacing 20121
34611 will replace 22215 at Sunderland
22075 is to be Stockton's new Driver Training Vehicle, replacing 20841
22071 will fulfill the same role at South Shields, replacing 20552
22072 will replace 20553 at Slatyford
22076 will replace 20550 at Walkergate

This currently leaves just 20551 at Sunderland awaiting a confirmed replacement.
