There is currently talk that Stagecoach North East are bidding for money from the fourth round of the Green Bus Fund for the new Scania K230UB/Alexander Dennis Enviro300 Gas Buses.

I know my target date keeps slipping, but I now reckon on coming to Middlesbrough on Auguast 24th/25th. Hopefully some could be in service there by then. My hunch is that these buses would go to Newcastle or the South Shields - Sunderland routes though.

No mention of where they are destined for (although I can confirm it is not Teesside), but they certainly won't be in service by the end of August.
I think it's far to say, try and make the most of the ALX200 Darts, I would think it fair to say they won't be around in a year's time.
As for the oldest MANs (22451/2/4-6 at Stockton, 22453 at Sunderland), they could also be a thing of the past this time next year (fair to say, they do turn 15 towards the end of the year).
If they are keeping man ALX300 then why don't they resrpay them and put led screens on them too so people can see where it going like arriva buses have

Most of them have been repainted in the last 2 years. As for LED displays, the only ones worth fitting them to are the Transbus ALX300-bodied examples (22011-20/61-6), considering most of the oldest examples will be withdrawn within the next 2 or 3 years.

Does anyone know if older pre 2001 MAN/ALX 300s can be easily modified/Certified as DDA compliant?
The North East has a large fleet of elderly MAN single-decks, I seem to recall that Stagecoach originally had a policy of replacing 'Full-size' buses at 16 years, so the S & T reg examples should go in 2014/2015 just before DDA kicks in for full-size S/Decks.
Could the recent lack of new vehicles for Tyne & Wear be due to local policies re Quality Contracts?
When old ALX300 go i would like to see more Enviro300 in the teesside fleet when old S reg go next year. And want to see more better double deckers to take over R reg Volvo olympian
