What do people think about England's performance last night then?

I was fairly impressed by the way the side played as a unit - worried that as our players ran out of gas in the final quarter the French would convert possession into pressure but they looked just as knackered!

Gerrard's loss of pace over the past couple of years left him rather exposed at times, but at least he kept plugging away sitting in front of the back four to put some decent tackles and blocks in.

Wasn't impressed with Wellbeck after the opening 30 minutes as the French blonde haired centre half looked very static and Wellbeck should have put some pressure on him.

If we are to progress beyond the quarter final stage the team is going to have to take better care of the ball and develop the confidence in a more incisive passing style - however, I suspect we lack both time and the players at this tournament to do so.
BT has secured the rights to broadcast live Premier League games for the first time, securing the rights to 38 matches a season from 2013-14 to 2015-16.
Feel sorry for ESPN cos they haven't done a bad job since taking over from Setanta. Wonder what impact the loss of Premier League football will have on its subscriptions.

I read that BT will launch a football-dedicated channel, although it'll definitely need to be made available on Sky if it's going to get decent viewing figures. One of the reasons with ITV Sports Channel failed.
England haven't been outstanding at these championships but then again, I don't think many people expected them to. But four points from six and Rooney to come back, we're looking alright. Walcott made a great impact on Friday against Sweden, defence needs to be a bit tighter and we need to be a little better with our crosses, as players like Carroll and Rooney can be good with headers.

Big test will come in the knock-out stages, as Spain or Italy will probably await in the quarter finals.
Fixtures released tomorrow morning at 9am. Gets us a little more excited for next season. Big day for the likes of Southampton, Huddersfield, Crawley and Fleetwood as they play in a higher division next season.
After overcoming a game but limited Sweden despite some horrendous defending at set pieces in a nightmare 15 minute period, England now have to overcome co-hosts Ukraine in a ferocious atmosphere at the Donbass Arena. Hope all the local racists have been taken for a day trip to play in the rubble at the remains of the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl, doubt it though.

No United, Liverpool, Toffess or Cit-aay tonight - just hope the three lions turn-up and roar with a red from the western end of the East Lancs Road acting as provider for the red strike pair from the eastern end tonight.
At best they won against Ukraine in the Donbass stadium tonight , this now gives them a Quarter Final on Sunday against Italy.

Italy is going to give England a hard match on Sunday , to be honest I dont know whether Spain would have been a more interesting match though.
Rooney didn't look up for it tonight, but hopefully now he has a match and a goal under his belt, he'll be really on form for Sunday. Credit to the team not just for the victory but also their low key behaviour in the stadium after the whistle.
A solid all round performance. Only concern was we brought Walcott on and thrn never gave the guy a single pass!

Also, another massive argument for goal line technology - even if the move was offside at the start.
Any predictions for the England -v- Italy match on Sunday?
