Actor Richard Thorp, Alan Turner on Emmerdale for more than 30 years, has died at the age of 81.
Not a celebrity as such but former Man Utd player Brian Greenhoff has also died, he was 60 years old.
Sad news on Richard Thorp. Always seems strange when a character continues to be mentioned in a soap when the actor or actress has died. It was the same with Jack on Emmerdale and Betty on Corrie. A great actor and seemed to be quite the gentleman off-screen, RIP.

The thing is with some actors its so sudden that some storylines have to be changed to accomodate circumstances , that allows the soap opera's to kill the character off in phased way to suit there needs .

So sad. He was an occasional golf partner my dad's for many years and his proudest football moment was when he and his brother, Jimmy, played for the victorious Man United side at Wembley in 1977. Can't remember who they beat though

He actually appeared, albeit briefly, last night. Didn't sound too well either. I don't tend to stick around for the end credits but I assume at least one episode this week has been dedicated to Richard's memory.
Unfortunately another death to report .
Bill Pertwee who played Warden Hodges in the Sit-Com Dad's Army has died aged 86.

Not yet, in tribute, the double episode next Tuesday is to be dedicated to his memory as it will be the last episode to feature him.
