1) Yes I would of thought

2) Don't know
Assuming that Northern will have 28 class 319s later this year. There are

3 diagrams on Liverpool-Manchester Airport
3 diagrams on Liverpool-Manchester Vic
4 diagrams on Liverpool-Wigan
2 diagrams on Liverpool-Warrington Bank Quay
3 diagrams on Liverpool-Preston (+1 extra diagram which is the new 1717 Liv-Preston Service)
1 diagram on Manchester Piccadily-Manchester Airport.

This means that there are 17 class 319 in activity and 11 spare.

You're forgetting the future electrification in the North West, any spare 319s won't be spare once that's completed
Don't forget, Northern are due a further 12 319's in total, so after this batch, there will only be another 4 due until the new builds arrive.

The Manchester-Preston line will be electrified from December 2017 and the Preston-Blackpool line will be electrified from early 2018.

(see https://www.networkrail.co.uk/North_West...tion.aspx)

I forgot to say that from now until December 2017, there will be 17 class 319 in activity and 11 spare.

There's also the current 323 work that will be taken over by 319s when Northern lose 323s

Northern will lose the 323 in 2018.

Surely there must be spare of 319 between now and december 2017?
Repeat of link,as could not open that one in previous messages

(13/07/2016 15:12)boby32 Wrote: [ -> ]If the existing Blackpool-Liverpool service (2F65) leaving 1803 is to be started at Preston leaving 1832, then this news service from Preston leaving at 1832 can be run by a 319 which has previously formed the Liverpool-Preston service (2N88). Here's the diagram

5F88 Allerton Deport (1646) to Liverpool Lime Street (1703)
2N88 Liverpool Lime Street (1717) to Preston (1830)
xxxx Preston (1832) to Liverpool Lime Street (1929) (new return journey)

This means that the 156, which was covering the Blackpool-Liverpool service leaving 1803, can be cascaded somewhere.

The Wigan North Western to Liverpool service (2F69) leaving at 1903 is formed of 150 as you said. I suggest that this service should be formed of four coaches for example 150 and 156. This service will form the 2009 service from Liverpool to Allerton Depot (5F37). Then, Allerton depot will be supplied with this pair of DMUs.

Wouldnt that leave the 1832 service at the mercy of a PPM failure , 2 minute turnaround is unworkable coming into the autumnal phase of the year.

Correct, you sometimes have late starts from Preston with the current 5 minute turnaround time during the daytime. Also not that it makes any difference in the grand scheme of things boby32 but the 1717 Lime St-Preston is 1N80 not 2N88,it's head code has changed as of this week
