I was on the service! It limped out of Lime Street could get out of 1st gear took 20 mins to get into EdgeHill all passengers thrown off and the Wigan stopper behind just went past and didn't allow any passangers off the 11.28 fast service to Preston on. All the passengers then had to get a train back to Lime Street and start again! The staff didn't have a clue and never gave any proper advise!

Also what is that new announcement after every station "if you have boarded this train from a station that enables ticket purchases you can only purchase a full price ticket from the conductor" it is so annoying! It's literally after every stop and the woman sounds so boring!!!!
It's strange that announcement as it doesn't happen on the Wigan stoppers between Thatto Heath and Wigan but I was on the Chat Moss line over the weekend and noticed the announcement tended to occur between St Helens Junction and Manchester.

Don't actually know what the fault was that kept it out of service last December to this week
I'm sure the announcement is needed but not literally after every stop! They should put posters up on the trains instead!

You could turn around and say how many people read the posters but equally you could say how many people listen to the announcements,I would imagine whilst the announcements are irritating to some people the vast majority zone out of listening to them after a while or are talking to whoever they are travelling with so don't hear them or are listening to music through earphones so don't hear them for that reason.

It doesn't say this after every stop on 319's but most stops along most routes on most of the 319 fleet. As for other trains at other Northern depots I don't know anything on them

Very True! Maybe it's me then. The voice is so monotonous! I will try my best to Zone out on my way home from work !
