Maybe ditching the 133 & 167 when the contract is up in September will prevent this issue.

Probably be stripped before then. Plus come franchising can see them loosing the whole lot

Clearly Hattons are having serious problems with there drivers, buses and services they've cancelled many services in the past few months I dont see them lasting very long
Really don't know how hattons are surviving at he moment. Surely there are fines for failure to run services. Plus with a aging fleet come franchising can see then vanishing
I do feel the situation above is being exaggerated by forum members. It’s clear by the number of trips they’re running short of drivers with occasional trips on selected services dropped rather than entire routes or diagrams being uncovered, while the situation isn’t great for passengers, it’s certainly nowhere near the chaos that operators like Supertravel eventually ended up in where entire routes went uncovered for weeks.

They have one of the highest average fleet ages for the Merseyside independents of vehicles owned

Merseytravel should of learned their lessons from bus operators like Supertravel and nipped (lol) Hattons in the bud before it escalated!
On Tuesday 30 July 2024, Hattons Transport services will be subject to cancellations due to operational issues.

The following journeys are cancelled:
Service 12 departing St Helens Town Centre at 1130 and 1230
Service 60 departing St Helens Town Centre at 1055 and 1155
Service 133 departing Kirkby at 1057, 1457 and 1722
Service 133 departing Waterloo at 1155 and 1832
Service 167 departing Garston at 1250 and 1330
Service 297 departing Kirkby at 0900 and 1000
The 1722 133 listed doesn't exist although there is a 1722 off Waterloo that returns back to Waterloo from Kirkby, if this was dropped it will have meant the last bus towards Kirkby was 1555. I'd hardly call it an exaggeration from people when one of these tenders they have only just won from Cumfybus and just a few weeks ago had a 4 hour gap in service. Merseytravel have had years of shocking service provision on tenders from a variety of operators and have clearly learned nothing from their previous experiences.

It doesn't help with the franchising uncertainty, no one wants to invest in more buses for the work so that rules out new entrants to the market. Peoplesbus did sell up and Cumfybus are cutting back. Plus we have some low quality firms who like to run what they want, when they want. We have very few safe options really now for tenders.

I presume that is why Merseytravel keep throwing hundreds of thousands of pounds at Hattons, who as well as failing to comply with the tender, also believe that the laws regarding Bus Open Data do not apply to them.
