I remember when Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 TPE ran a 8 car 158 on the last service out of Lime Street - the only time I ever saw a 8 car formation on TPE.

And yes 507022 is correct - starts 2.30pm on 26 May.

Something ran according to RTT as 5Q17 around 1115 through to NL.
Unfortunately no details were shown
331010 should have gone today, got as far as Edge Hill then went back to Allerton, unsure why
Why are some 3310xx going to Neville Hiil now?
There were like for like swaps with 3311xx some time ago.
Is it because Northern has more than enough at Allerton now with the WM 323s arriving, I wonder?

Posts on another forum suggest 6 car workings are being introduced in Leeds in the next couple of months. Sounds like some of the services that were 4 car 333s until recently will be 6 car 331s, allowing the 333s to be used on other services like the Doncaster electric services. The 4 car 333s have a lot more seats than than the 4 car 331s due to rare combination of wider carriages allowing 3+2 seating, as well as the carriages being full length. A feature the 323s also have. However, with Sprinters it's narrow and long e.g. 155s, 156s, 158s or short and fat (150s).

Northern using 323s on diverted Blackpool to Manchester Airport during the recent engineering works may not have helped with the number of services cancelled due to staff shortages. I don't think they had sufficient Wigan crews who both signed the relevant part of the route and the traction type, and I think some services had 3 crew changes en route.

I've heard reports Lime Street station was extremely badly managed yesterday, with huge crowds being held outside the station, while the concourse was relatively quiet and strengthened services were departing with only a handful of passengers on board.

One EMR service was showing as 2 carriages yesterday evening, but everything else was showing as 3-11 carriages, with most departures being 4 or 6. In fact it looks like only departures heading towards Warrington saw 2 or 3 car formations.
The problems after the LFC parade were no different from when there have been similar events over the years. I am afraid that very few train staff will work overtime when they know what to expect. Due to Health & Safety regulations you cannot allow large crowds into the station snd certainly on to the platforms as crush loadings would occur resulting in passengers getting injured and sueing the railway.
It is unfortunate but that is the situation. Too many people try to squeeze in to too small a space.

So are they OK with the idea of people having advance tickets, panicking that they're going to miss their booked train and pushing and shoving outside the station?

Maybe they think it's OK if it happens outside the station and falls into the remit of Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, rather than Network Rail and BTP?
