It seems regarding the first evening Stockport-Chester that the local RUG flagged the poor timing of it and suggested that if a better path can't be arranged that it should run semi-fast, so that the following Piccadilly-Chester isn't just behind it.
Northern are advertising the limited services will be providing next week will be exactly the same on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, despite Thursday not being a strike day. This will mean many lines will see no service all day, unlike with other operators where they'll be a normal service with pre-9am trains subject to cancellation.
17.08 Stockport-Chester now cancelled on Monday - as are a number of Liverpool-Blackpool, MIA - Barrow/Windermere and the whole service to/from Ellesmere Port.
The half hour Lime St to Wigan NW service is back as well, although only time will tell if passengers can rely on them running

Probably the same Liverpool - Blackpool services that were missing from the previous timetable with roughly one missing every 3 hours.

Both morning Chester-Stockports cancelled on the day too (opposed to the 'short notice change to the timetable excuse' they'll use for the services removed yesterday). I notice they didn't bother to strengthen an additional Mid-Cheshire diagram to make up for the lack of the peak time extras (one of the four diagrams was set to remain as 4 car).
The Manchester-Windermere was particularly unfortune as it took out two branch trips as well - and the previous trip was also cape, leaving no departure from Windermere between 08.56 and 13.58.
;
Its like there is some kind of competition to see if any terminus can get a worse service than Cleethorpes!

You spoke too soon. Northern have announced they'll be no services on most routes on 24 Dec, 27 Dec, 1 Jan and 5 Jan (non-strike days). They are also warning of disruption to services every day next week, plus 28, 29, 30 and 31 Dec and 2 Jan. So in short the next date they are expecting to not have widespread cancellations is Mon 9 Jan!
