A tender has recently been released to find a financier for a £140m order for twenty Class 195 diesel-battery hybrid units
Temp closure of Stanlow And Thornton.
My guess is this won't be short term, maybe wrong.

You can see this going into the Category of stations like IBM and British Steel Redcar which are mothballed not closed as such.

I hope they don't continue the Rail Replacement for it though. It's keeping someone in business that!

Wasn’t Stanlow on the list of least used stations in the country with less than 100 passengers in a year or something similar?

yeah , the problem now its on a private road with no public access , so passengers will have limited access now.

High likelyhood this couldb be the beginning of the end , unless a transport plan formulated with the refineries owners comes to plan

The last fair stats (2019/20) had 89 passengers. 2020/21 they had no passengers but that was down to the lack of trains and lockdown.

The service has also been revised fairly recently. There was a morning peak Ellesmere Port-Manchester service and a Manchester-Ellesmere Port evening peak service. Now it's gone back to a shuttle, with the unit for the evening service being obtained by splitting units off the 16:40 Manchester-Chester. Pre-COVID it was the unit off the 16:40 Manchester-Chester, leaving the unit off the first peak extra time to run the next Chester-Manchester but that peak time extra hasn't been reinstated yet. The change means the evening service is later.
Widespread cancellations today and not just on the routes they warned us there would be short notice cancellations.

Think I read somewhere recently that as well as TPE, Northern also currently don't have a Rest Day Working agreement. If this is correct, then that will be the cause.
