All 144's from what I've read.
December 2020 track access application has been published. The Ellesmere Port-Vic-Leeds trains are running from/to Chester instead due to alteration to TfW services, replaced by a branch shuttle with, presumably, the evening train from E.Port running to Liverpool.
;
The aspiration to run a second Middlesbrough-Newcastle service via Stillington seems to have been abandoned, now to run via Sunderland.
Sounds a case of give with one hand and take with the other hand , the service between Helsby and Ellesmere Port is effectively a parliamentary service.

If take into account the amount of services on the line Stanlow and Thornton is the least used station per train , when they ran (during the last period of the usuage figures there was a Northern Dispute - Which disrupted operations).

The idea was there would be a commuter service from Ellesmere Port to Manchester but the problem with that is there's no services except at peak times meaning if someone is on a half day, doesn't work normal office hours, needs to go home sick, works late, stays behind for drinks with colleagues etc. then they have to go to go via Hooton with 2 changes of train. Hardly an attractive option!

Also looks like Northern won't be running the peak time Piccadilly-Huddersfield shuttles anymore.

I note table ED10 in the full document shows all Mid-Cheshire services as Chester to/from Piccadilly (no services starting/terminating at Stockport) as well as showing additional Sunday services but shows them as rights Northern already have, not a request to change. Also Sunday Blackpool-Stoke services are included in the document, again not as a change.

All diesel services in the 'South Manchester' group are also shown as being changed to class 150 timings instead of 142 and 156 timings. I wonder if that will actually change the timetables at all.
Northern stopped running from Manchester to Huddersfield in December with TPE Hull trains making additional call in their place. TfGM didn't seem to pick up that it meant Stalybridge (and Huddersfield) had fewer peak services as a result, presumably the real reason for not changing the TAA until now.Most westbound ones had already been split at Marsden and although this amendment cancels the Huddersfield-Marsden trains the Marsden-Manchester slots are still shown.

That peak time service is so needed. TFW is normally standing room only leaving Chester on peak trips to Manchester. As people get to know about it, it will be a nice money earner for Northern (if they sell their Northern only tickets). Having been on the 05:11 off Holyhead a few times (boarding at Chester), it's always standing room only. I have seen quite a few people get off at Helsby and walk over the bridge because they know they will get a seat.

Edit: Reading through the application, it suggests that TFW is not running a trip into Manchester (Which would be the 05:11 off Holyhead as that is the one which stops Northern running into Chester. Evening peak might be ok but the Northern service can get stuck behind the supposed loco hauled 16:50 off Piccadilly).

It's interesting that they are getting rid of the Ellesmere Port service when the DFT were the plonkers which put it in the franchise agreement. They put it in and now they are taking it out, partly due to TFW alterations but also likely due to no one using it.

Track access consultations appear on the Network Rail site on this page: https://www.networkrail.co.uk/industry-a...ess-rights

Due to the way the site is designed it's not possible to give a direct link to a specific application. They will also move from the 'current' to the 'completed' folder after the end consultation date has passed.
