Saturday it's a 5 car, But on Monday to Friday it's 10 because that one goes either Wrexham or Holyhead/Bangor
The contract to provide a locomotive for the Pretendolino stock has been won by DRS, who are hiring in a Class 90 from the present operator D B Schencker. The locomotive will be 90034 and this will remain attached to the stock at all times except when servicing is required.
.
Virgin Trains services are subject to disruption to damage to the Overhead Wires between Preston and Lancaster.
Virgin Trains are to finish hiring in the Pretendolino stock from Eversholt Leasing and the loco from DRS.[/i]
So it seems that Virgin have now managed to get more out of there fleet .

Virgin managed to get rid of there Thunderbirds because they didn't really need them as they said there Pendolinos where so reliable , now it looks like they have gone the next step and said that the Pendolino availability is good enough to dispense with the Pretendolino now.

I wait to be convinced ,is somebody at Virgin taking a risk .

There are still Thunderbirds based at least at Polmadie, Preston, Crewe and Rugby the difference now being that the locos are owned by DRS and hired by Virgin Trains.
Due to a major overhead line dewirement incident in the Runcorn area that has injured a Virgin Trains driver services between liverpool and Crewe are presently suspended until further notice.
390112 is in an vinyl livery of a traindeer .

390112 was noted at Stafford on a Glasgow-Birmingham-Euston service today.
Virgin suffering major delays and cancellations on the WCML along with LM due to a person hit by a train at Hemel Hempstead. The train lnvolved may have been the 11.35 ex-Chester due at Euston at 1.39pm. Other trains were arriving with significant delays, but this was still shown as delayed with no ETA at 4pm.

Despite press reports of chaos, VT staff responded well, quickly organising a skeleton service, reallocating units and finding train crews. They also voided seat reservations and derestricted services that they could run. This may have annoyed a few passengers and led to overcrowding but meant that passengers were travelling despite the circumstances.

Also they added at least one additional Scottish service from Crewe for onward passengers arriving from Euston on N. Wales and Manchester services.

A well-handled professional response from Virgin.

As ever in these circumstances, thoughts go out to those involved in the incident, and without pre-judging the cause, particularly the train driver and emergency services who will have to live with the aftermath.
