RE: First Chester & Wirral
in theory this is a great opportunity for growth. Inevitably though there will be some rationalisation. My hopes are with the employees that things will turn out well. Also let's hope that this sale generates some real innovation and competition with Arriva, rather than a predictable squeeze on local independents.

It will be interesting to see, especially any route rationalisations as Birkenhead don't have that many routes, prob apart from the 38 that they can rationalise.

RE: First Chester & Wirral
Evening all,

I've merged the two threads relating to operations at Rock Ferry together for now. I see little point in creating a secondary thread when there's still loads of useful information contained in here!

What we'll do instead is rename this thread once Stagecoach actually takeover, until then, we'll just keep it as it is ;-)

Some posts of a more speculative nature have been moved down to the relevant speculation thread in off-topic if anyone thinks their post has gone walkabouts. As ever, any problems then just drop me a pm!

Cheers,

If the routes were making money Stagecoach wouldn't have cancelled them[think the only ont that did make money Stagecoach withdrew from was the 79], the staff that were axed, some[NOT ALL ] were pinching money from the tills so to speak. GTL is in better hands in Stagecoach ownership than it ever was with the clowns that previously owned GLT. Plus Stagecoach brought in single deckers as most the GTL fleet when Stagecoach took over from GTL was over 20 years old, & i'm not a Stagecoach fanboy btw.

I would expect a rationalisation of owned premises being replaced by out of town leased sites. Also I suspect something more productive can be done with the Woodchurch and Mill Park Corridors

As of today everything, but I wouldn't be surprised to see movement as soon as the deal completes, maybe as soon as a few weeks.
