Not sure about the Ashton line, although I'm sure there must be spare capacity on there to extend services over to there. I think ideally the through Bury service could be supplemented by through Eccles services (as happens sometimes when engineering works are on) but also Altrincham would be useful as well. Either Eccles or Altrincham through services would be useful in clearing any congestion with terminating trams at Piccadilly.

Living close to the Mcr Airport line I received information last week from TfGM that commencing Monday, 15th September training of drivers will begin from St. Werburgh's Road to Mcr Airport during the daytime and from 30th Sept evening training will begin.
Last Thursday 11th September a double tram was on Moor Road, Wythenshawe around lunchtime.
However no news as yet regarding passenger journeys.

It is really encouraging, and quite intriguing, about a 2016 transport development coming on stream in 2014. I therefore plan to ride Metrolink to or from the Airport in December.
New tram 3090 was noted on Queens Road Depot yesterday.
Oh guess what on Sunday 9th November , the first sunday of operations on the Manchester Airport line and we have the line closed for engineering work until 0830 .

You would have thought that some joined up thinking would have said we need to get the passengers used to the tram network on this line and asked Network Rail there plans for the upcoming weeks to see when they could run a 7 day a week tram network into Manchester Airport .

The trams on Sunday 9th November will operate between Wythenshawe Town Centre and Cornbrook until 08.30 then after 08.30 services will revert to full route from Manchester Airport to Cornbrook.
