I'm no expert on the Metrolink (infact prefer buses
), but does anyone know the reason for the double trams that have been running this week between Eccles and Ashton.
Even the late eveving trams tonight were doubled up and given that they carry all but fresh air into Ashton of an evening it seems a bit odd.
Apologies if this question has been asked before.
Does anybody if the mileages between each stop between St Werburghs Road and Manchester Airport?

Cheers for that I thought it might have something to do with the works in the city centre. Back to normal single trams now.
The former Bury - Ashton service has now become a Bury - Etihad Campus service .
The service from Eccles - Ashton still operates .
This now means that there has been an improvement in services between Piccadilly Gardens - Etihad Campus.
I'm unsure the right Terminology but what is the (PVR?) of Metrolink these days and how many run as doubles?
I travelled from Bury to Market Street last Saturday. I wanted to see the track alignment and new platforms at Victoria. Although the replacement island platform has been built, the other one has yet to be completed.
This may be commonplace, but a nice touch occurred. We had to stop to let a tram from Rochdale proceed in front of us, and to give right of way to a tram to Rochdale. Anyway, this tram to Rochdale had its right indicator on as it passed in front of us!
