Progress seems to be quite rapid, as there are rumours of both the Oldham and Rochdale sections opening early 2014. I shall have to get there soon, probably late November, to make sure I ride the line via Oldham Mumps while I can!
I did have a ride up to Ashton today and was quite impressed. Very good loads. I think the cross city choice of Bury was a good idea as I overheard a few passengers from Ashton saying they were going through to Bury for the Market.

I have also got my Metrolink route mileage up to date as I also did East Didsbury, as this opened just after I did Droylsden and Rochdale at Easter - this network is certainly getting interesting - a far cry from the early days of just Bury - Altrincham.

Bury is indeed a sensible destination for trams from Ashton. Oldham and Rochdale would have been silly, in that it would have taken longer to get from Ashton to Oldham by tram than by bus.

It is a bit frustrating how many weekends are featuring engineering works now. For at least 2 weekends we had services west of Piccadilly Gardens suspended. Now we have services suspended from Piccadilly Gardens for a few stops north, just beyond Victoria. I had hoped to ride plenty of modern sections of route on November 23rd, but I may have to wait til late December now. I cannot bring myself to believe they would have engineering works between Christmas and New Year, would they?
How to travel to your enthronement as Bishop of Manchester? By Metrolink of course!
