RE: Warrington's Own Buses
Seems the Haydock issue with the 22, is parked cars more than anything else. My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |

Parking is always a difficult issue as most homes now have more than one car and there just simply isn't the space for them, especially as the size of the average car has grown consistently between models, and also the rise in small People Carriers that can be bought cheaply hasn't helped either, as now parents believe that their children will be safer in them if hit by a large vehicle and that they are better value for money. Also elderly people didn't used to drive in the main, now everybody tends to drive except under 17's of course, and most of them own a vehicle especially on large private estates. To squeeze a bus onto many estates, is becoming a no no despite before deregulation double-deckers used to serve the same roads quite often. Really I aren't sure what the answer is as any parking regulations would be a vote looser for any councillor who's local council had put them in place. Feeder minibus services have been tried in the past and those didn't work either, take First Manchester's 67L, and 598L it was very rare that anyone actually rode on them. |

Double decks tend to be shorter than full-length single decks (B7s, SB200s etc) so are sometimes easier to get round estates. |
