Warrington's Own Buses - Valandil - 15/06/2012 17:50

For all news about WBT!

RE: WBT Network Warrington - Valandil - 15/06/2012 17:56

From the VOSA thread, it seems that WBT might have a bit of competition soon, and by the looks of the service numbers, these journeys might be fairly similar to existing routes.

Credit to P450 SWX for these.

Maybe 21h will link Orford and the hospital?
Interesting that this route is registered as beginning and ending in the 'town centre' rather than the bus station.
There's probably also something in that there are only 21h and 1c (and not 20h or 2c).

Iv got an interview with Warrington this week. What are they like as a company to work for and does anyone know what rate the drivers are on? How do they compare with Arriva in terms of how busy they are?

warrington are nice if you like to stay local and the drivers are always happy chaps Smile

WBT are actually ok to work for im led to believe from what ive been told by drivers who i work with who use to work there, there pay isnt as good as arriva but at same time is a lot better than the small operators.
They have quite a busy network and its stable due to the locals being very supportive to there service and are majorly commited to catching there services in the borough

I can't remember the exact figure, but for a town they have a large number of routes to learn, most of them being fairly short distance and remaining within the town (with a few exceptions).
Compared with other places in the region (and notably Widnes and Runcorn, which seem to have just a couple of 'corridors' where the service is strong), I'd say that the network is much more well-used by the public, and so the frequency on lots of routes is high.
The timetables have fairly recently been adjusted to allow for extra flexibility/layover in the peaks, which means that you will not now have to keep to an unrealistic timetable, but that the buses will probably be even more full now (e.g. there might now be only 5 buses between 1500 and 1800 now, instead of the previous 6, as the frequency might have gone down from every 30 to every 36).
It also means that you might come up with more interesting running boards, as there seems to be quite a lot of interworking in the peak periods.

From VOSA, it seems that the frequency of both summer special services (X18 -- Gullivers World and X99 -- Walton) will be every 30 minutes.

Should be a better company to work for then Arriva then :-)
