This suggests that once buses all date from ca 2015-20 the fleet will be as good as frozen for a while, with few if any vehicles ordered for a short time after that.
If their 5 year max age plan goes to plan they'll create a market for nearly new used vehicles which will have a decent residual value. There's method in the madness here.
So are there buses bought right out or leased?
It appears that Volvo B7RLE 524/AU06 BPO has been acquired by an independent operator (Ogdens/Hattons ect ?) in St Helens, noticed it on a school run this morning still wearing the heritage livery.

Not 100% but think it may be peoplesbus as noticed a driver yeasterday wearing a tie that looked like peoplesbus.

Quite possible as it was on one of the Cowley routes as some are operated by Peoplesbus
Can confirm 524 is now with Ogdens.

They do a number of day trips out to Christmas Markets in various places, although I didn't realise Liverpool was one of their destinations, must be a new one this year.
