Effectively the same route - but the ‘terminus’ is now the bus station rather than Heswall Shore. Very poor to reduce these to two-hourly - Heswall has seen its services slashed in recent years. Let’s hope this is temporary. Can A2B not cope with the extra services they’re taking on?

The moreton circulars carry fresh air in the evenings and aren’t required - Town meadow is covered by the 423 which runs frequently and the 1A/1C don’t even go into Leaoswe estate - they run via the remote Moreton Shore. Better to use that bus to do a West Kirby - Arrowe Park - Heswall bus in the evenings. Using one bus. Better use for it!

Looking at the new timetables, seems the 174/175/181 are all interworked, but now on a poor 2 hour frequency

I tweeted Merseytravel and they said A2B are suffering from a driver shortage - it is temporary they said

That's how the decline of contracts start. We assumed the reductions in St Helens were only temporary but even after more than a year (in some cases), the normal frequencies still haven't been restored. It's a slippery slope.
Which started out as driver shortages and now the excuse is lack of funding. It certainly can't be a driver shortage now as HTL would have been able to cover increased frequencies on those services from Monday with their losses.
I didn’t know where else to post this but…with new royal hospital opening this month, does anyone know if any bus services will be rerouted to serve the new main entrance? Or will the likes of the 8/9/10’s/12/13/14’s/15/18 etc still serve Prescot street
Merseytravel News Update:

A2B Travel services 1/1A/1B/1C, 174/175 and 181 are reinstated to pre-September re-timings from 18th of December.

Any other changes from othet operators
It's great for those routes on the Wirral getting their previous frequencies back. Sadly, here in St Helens, we still have reduced frequencies on our contracts and looking at the arrangements for Christmas/New Year, an early finish on the 17 on the 27th December and 2nd January. Hardly good encouragement to use public transport on what is a route linking 2 significantly sized towns.

That’s absolutley fantastic news. Was concerned they’d never go back to hourly.

It was probably a severe shortage of staff , public transport is now so short of staff its harder to recruit to the smaller operators.
