RE: Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire
Carlisle reserve MAN 22160 has gone on loan to Lillyhall.

Lillyhall's Solo 47617 is in Iveco Kingstown Carlisle awaiting repairs.

Repairs to accident damaged Dart SLF 34717 are almost complete and it is being rubbed down for painting.

It was Lillyhall's open day today which appeared very successful. Visitors included Stagecoach Manchester new Enviro 400MMC 10420. This is the newly redesigned Enviro 400. Up from Merseyside was Volvo B10B 21118 in CMT livery. Stagecoach Western sent open top Titan 11083 and Fife brought preserved Bristol MW HDV 639E in Bluebird livery. Morecambe sent Olympian 16795. In addition there was an array of local preserved vehicles including ex Cumberland Bristol Lodekka FS6G 550, Bristol VR 431, Bristol MW 231, LN 210, and ex Stagecoach B10M 20779, Lynx 251 and Mercedes Benz Vario 42545 plus a number of other vehicles.

Local Stagecoach vehicles remaining at Lillyhall today were 15923, 16118/9, 16652/7, 17692, 22728/30, 34709, 35246, 47059, 52629, trainer 52665, plus 47881 (X249 VWR) now converted to an info bus for the publicity department. Lastly Carlisle based 37106 (Youth Zone advert) was also present. 22728 has had its fleetnames painted out in black and appears ready for disposal. 22730 is withdrawn but otherwise seemed untouched.
In my last post the list of ex Stagecoach preserved vehicles should also have included Olympian 14245 (F805 FAO).

MAN 22160, on loan from Carlisle, was in service on the 30/31s today

Four new Solos have arrived in Carlisle, one of which carries registration YJ15AEW. They do not yet have fleet names, numbers or legal lettering yet and are in a blue livery with colour flashes similar to those carried on the Enviro200s for service 61.

Other registrations on new Solos delivered are YJ15AET/AEU/AEX. AEU has also been fitted with the 61-colour flashes but without lettering or fleet numbers so far. Other Solos reported but which I have not seen are YJ15AEO/AEP/AEV.

New open-top service 508 between Penrith and Patterdale started this week which together with service 78 at Keswick increased the requirement at Penrith/Carlisle to four open-tops. However only three are currently allocated (16534, 17217 and 17495). Today 17495 has been in the workshop at Carlisle so with 17217 on the 508, the 78 has been down to only one open-top, 16534, together with closed-top 16650 and Solo 47721! To add to the problems 16534 would not start in Keswick at one point so 47721 doubled-up but then one of the drivers eventually got the Olympian started. Newly-converted 17490 has been collected from Blackburn but has not yet had its repaint completed. However after today the four-vehicle requirement only applies to Saturday/Sunday for the next seven weeks and the Monday-to-Friday requirement is just one for the 78. By the time of the summer school holidays hopefully 17489 and 17490 should be out.

Do you mean 17489 and 17490? Would of thought 16489/90 were a bit old to be newly converted to open top.

I see that there are 26 Solos on order for Carlisle, 47941-66. Where are these going to be used? It is only 5 minutes since 41 E20Ds were delivered for town services so is there a major expansion or are they taking on Reays? Surely they are not replacing some of the E20s?

It been reported elsewhere that these New Solo's are to replace the Enviro200's in Carlisle, with the Enviro200's then being transferred to Lillyhall to replace the 09 reg Enviro300's, which will then be transferred to Morecambe to replace the remaining Alexander bodied M.A.N's.

Nowhere near the mark that theory...

Enviro200s are for cascade out of the region, with some darts going to Morecambe as well.
I do wonder how long it'll be before things change again with the new MD...
