40405 broken down again for the second time in 10 days, on bridgeman street around the corner from Bolton Depot more or less. Didn't quite make it home so to speak.

Talking of darts 4000 is knackered, it sounds like its engine will drop out of the back.

Went on Arrow 31918 561s withins circular. Such a banger now a days. All the arrows should be binned off

on a posotive note though

The oldest bendi at Bury 10017 sounds like its had a bit of a tune up, was on 471s to Bolton today and it can shift a hell of a lot quicker than the newer 05 12001/18 omni city scania bendis

N412JBV needs to be binned off if anything. If you think that the Arrows are bad, then you've seen nothing until you've been on that thing.

I remember 34262 when it was based in Bury before being shipped out to Wigan, I can remember many a time I had it on my local route the 510 and it got into Bolton with steam pouring out the back, radaitor leak big time.

In all honesty your right thomas, some of the withdrawal policy amazes me. Some of these p reg olys. 34069/70 to name just to from BY Depot are withdrawn, but seem to like to keep older vehicles in. There has been numerous withdrawals of r reg and p reg vehicles for all reasons, some because they are knackered. Yet some, seem decent buses and they are out. But they hold onto oldies like 34262

I'm pretty sure it did.

10017 has always been a quick machine. When it was introduced I loved it, it fast became one of my favourite buses.

If rumours are correct about the 50+ buses we are recieving after the olympics, I suppose now is your last chance to get a go on the Dennis Dart SLFs and Dennis Arrows/Older Volvo Olympians, and possibly R-reg Volvo B10BLEs and T-reg Volvo Olympians. Once they turn up, there is every possibility that the Darts and Arrows are finally off, as there is nothing stopping it from happening now. The way I see it:

415 becomes operated by Optare Solos out of the Oldham depot. Other services in Oldham can easily be run by saloons, and at Oldham we'll have plenty of spare B9TL's and Saloons after these Olympic buses arrive.

Y/ML02 reg Optare Solos and B7RLE's will do local work in Rochdale, along with Mercedes-Benz Citaro's from Bury.

Tameside will use their possible fleet of 10 B7TLs on the 350 and 348 between Carbrook/Hey Farm and Ashton, whilst Oldham provides the Oldham - Ashton 350s. Scania L94UBs or Volvo B10BLEs could possibly move here to see the end of Darts.

In Bury, we will see little change. I have heard from an unnamed employee at the Bury depot that they are looking at withdrawing bendy-buses, but we will not go into that.

In Bolton, B9TLs will be replaced by olympic stock on the 36, 37 and possibly the 8. The B9TLs moved will be used on other services that used to be run by Dennis Darts, and maybe the 12/25/26 will see B9TLs.

In Wigan, the 600 may receive B9TLs from Oldham or/and Bury for the 600. This will free up some saloons for withdrawal of some Dart SLFs and Optare Excels. Now, according to rumour, more B7TL's are due Manchester-way. It could be possible these go to Wigan to see the end of the Dennis Darts, Optare Excels and Dennis Arrows, along with N412JBV.

In Manchester, little will change.

(Please note I am not under any circumstance saying this will definitely happen. I must stress this is my opinion of what could happen.)

Thanks,
Liam Moskwin.

RE: First Manchester
Spotted a couple of notices at bus stands at the Trafford Centre yesterday regarding the 68 and 100 timetable changes (not mentioned on First's website) from 22 July.

The 68 will run an earlier journey on Sundays at 7.56am from Farnworth to Trafford Centre with the 9.19am journey from Eccles to Bolton starting from Trafford Centre at 9.10am.

The 100 will adopt the Public Holidays timetable on Sundays. This'll be mean earlier journeys from Manchester to Trafford Centre and to/from Hollins Green and Warrington.

Great post Liam,

Can I just ask you something regarding Bury,16 deckers came to Bury from Queens Road and Oldham, prior to which 95% of the BY B7 went to Queens Road in exchange.

Now obviously Bury only has 3 08 reg plate B9 the rest are Oldham, if the changes happen as you forecast and Bury looses some B9s to Wigan. What replaces them do you think ?

Ps : My point like you is only based on if any of this happened, and there is a chance it just might

Was on 40309 out of Rochdale on the 456, to Hollingworth lake. In the whole journey he must have been doing way over 50mph. And let's not even talk about going through red lights on Halifax road which I think it is and his speed around waddle. The v signs and telling a women to f off . Jumping the lights and almost by a split second having a head on crash. What a total danger to the road. I'll avoid his bus again

I wouldn't be complaining and would be happy to have a fast driver personally! I can't stand slow drivers going at like 10mph on busy main roads for no apparent reason what so ever. It's nice to be getting places in early and in a fast manner! Big Grin That's just me though, I rush about a lot haha! :P

I would prefer a driver who drives safely than one that doesnt even if the bus takes ages to get there , being a car driver as well , i know how annoying it can be driving be driving behind a dawdler , the timetable planners do , do there best but traffic conditions can dictate early and late running.

Haha, sorry, allow me to correct myself, I meant Bolton, Bury wouldn't lose its recent B9TL's as that would be silly Smile

Also, ideally if the above were to happen, the MX54 plated Solo's from Pioneer would transfer to Oldham, have their seats retrimmed in the new leatherette and new poles, be painted into the new livery and be branded as 415's. Also I can see the 415 being curtailed to run between Middleton and Oldham, with the 343 and 350 running through Greenacres and renumbered instead, for example: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en

This would actually give Greenacres a very useful service every 15 minutes into Oldham and also give a decent, frequent(ish) fast(ish) service to Mossley, because for god's sake, we need it.

I have quite a few ideas similar for the whole of this side of Greater Manchester. I'd love to share them with you but I doubt anyone's interested hahahah Smile

Thanks,
Liam Moskwin.
