Southport Corporation 89 VWM89L
Just been looking on Flickr and I'm pleased to see 89 is still alive. After several fruitless appearances on Ebay last year I thought it had met its maker. Unfortunately it has lost its middle doors but survival outweighs that! Hers a link to the photo coutesy of MrVRMan :- http://www.flickr.com/photos/45726467@N0...095251475/ |

http://oldbeth.com/ The centre doors reside in my garden shed. As far as I know 89 is still in London after being sold last year. |

It's a remarkable survival rate - four out of the ten Southport Atlanteans still exist. I have no personal history with them, but I think they're absolutely gift-looking buses - even sexier than the similar-ish AL-bodied PTE Atlanteans. Given a sizeable Lottery win, one would certainly be desirable on my front drive, if only to annoy my next door neighbour, whose huge motor caravan blocks my view of one end of my street The Beatles, Fountains Of Wayne, XTC, The Who, ELO

This is 89 when owned by Kas, shortly before being sold to its present owner. Usonthebus web address is from the time it was owned by The Weller family who took it over to France. This is from back in 06 when it was being converted to a motor home by Brian Weller. |
