They went to Ormskirk on the last 38 journey when Skem used to operate it.
I remember the N-CKB's doing it sometimes.

The 38 used to run to Ormskirk when Skelmersdale depot operated the 37/38. They were positioning journeys to save dead mileage. I think that some journeys also ran from Ormskirk in the morning, too, for the same reason.

The morning journeys (for at least one board out of the three) started in Rainford as opposed to Ormskirk or St Helens. Ormskirk was just the evening run never carrying more than fresh air past Rainford.

Ah right - that may have been down to where the buses had to start (one may have started on Rainford on the 38 and the other two may have started in Eccleston on the 37). My prediction probably only backs-up the evening journeys, when they probably ran them like that to save a little bit of money on fuel and possibly pick-up passengers who were waiting for the 319 (evidently, the latter mustn't have worked).

The 37/38 have switched between St Helens and Skelmersdale garages a few times and I do recall in some earlier timetables when Skelm ran the service, some journeys starting at Ormskirk in the morning. This was only cut back to Rainford in the latter days of Skelm operation.

How can diversions that are caused by roadworks the fault of Arriva? Maybe you should be looking at blaming Wigan Council for the constant roadworks.

Quite sth77. The same roadworks that are causing the delays and bunching the above poster was also insinuating are entirely Arriva's fault.....
