So it looks set to be a wet lease between Aer Lingus and Virgin then. Similar situation to that between Easyjet and Air Finland when 2 752s and crew were leased and painted up (the aircraft, not the crew!) for the summer season.

It won't be a case of the Virgin crews not being trained, the conversion from an A330/A340 type rating to an A319/20/21 rating takes no time at all due to the similarity of the two flight decks.

A Virgin Atlantic passenger plane has landed safely at London's Gatwick Airport after discovering a problem with part of its main landing gear.

Virgin flight VS43 with 447 passengers and 15 crew was travelling from Gatwick to Las Vegas when it had to return.

The Boeing 747 circled over southern England for several hours dumping fuel before making a bumpy but safe landing just before 16:00 GMT

Not all of the landing gear came down for landing , a video of the landing shows a wing up landing on one side to ensure that the plane landed safely. Hats off to the Captain for the landing.

It must have been a stressful landing after the incident near to Singapore very new in our minds.

That is not bad seat utilisation .

With Gatwick only having one runway the following diversions while the runway was out of action was interesting with some services diverted to Bristol , London Luton and London Stansted.
