The rationale behind the fines would be stop Operators going on stand too early, and blocking another bus from picking up passengers safely and punctually. The only logical argument against arriving considerably early, is that means the bus has probably left the previous timing point early, thus inconveniencing other passengers. Fining drivers/operators for arriving just a couple of minutes early is ridiculous as avoiding the fine would probably mean parking up at the previous stop, thus potentially resulting in a ticket from a Parking Warden, as well as frustrating passengers needing to get to the Interchange for connections or to walk to their final destination (especially workers on flexi-time). With the new 88 times on a good day it is possible to leave a timing point on time and to arrive at the next one more than a minute or two early. |
