Not sure which one it is but there is a Sapphire livery Pulsar on the 79C today - I only noticed when I saw the white LEDs behind my car earlier!

Why are the Hough Green services running as 79 and not 79C?

That's weird ... you'd think it'd at least be 79A or 79B if they wanted to make a distinction between the shorts and the full route.
But on the timetable it says 79C, so the dests should too, I would have thought ... maybe they were just programmed incorrectly?!

There's a cadet that seems to cut a bit of the dests out so I thought it may have just been that but I've seen about 3 or 4 today so it's obviously not a coincidence! I thought it may have been numbered 79A or something like you said, and personally don't see any problem with it staying 79C

I think they could save themselves bother if they gave it a different service number, as I'm sure drivers will already be getting bored with potential passengers getting on board and asking if they're going to Liverpool or not.

79 is the new service number of the Runcorn - Hough Green Shorts. (The original route number was 30 before the Liverpool extention). It is now present within the online timetables.

Oh I see -- on Arriva's website, it doesn't come up if you search for 79, but it does come up if you search for 79C insofar as it says 79 above the shorts on the timetable for the 79C.
Just my opinion, but I think that's a terrible service number because it's completely disjoint from the other 79 in the area.
You can just imagine someone intending to travel from Liverpool to Widnes thinking, oh I'll hop on that 79 because I know that goes through Widnes, just like the 79C, as I've seen them around there a number of times.
