RE: Metrolink
I think you will find that there was some sort of funding for that route which dried up.

I think it was a crossing the t's and dotting the i's exercise to ensure that the Metrolink extension to the Trafford Centre doesn't get any opposition by removing it as soon as possible .

RE: Metrolink
On Saturday sampled a trip on the Manchester Airport branch , firstly to Manchester Airport , past the engineering work ongoing at Manchester Airport to increase the amount of heavy rail platforms .

Due to the service not operating all the way to Cornbrook , the loadings just seemed to be a little on the light side .

One point to note is that Metrolink had staff at Chorlton , Trafford Bar and a presence for a few minutes at Cornbrook they was the only staff I saw other than the onboard drivers.

It seems the onboard recorded announcements don't like to work when the service terminates short of the planned location.

I was once on an East Didsbury tram last year when the service was going to terminate at Trafford Bar , the recorded announcement was replaced by the driver announcing after every stop that it was Trafford Bar tram in the quietest voice he could muster im sure .

It seems like there is to be some sort of industrial action on Wednesday next week (11th Feb ) which has been timed by the trade union to coincide with a Manchester United home fixture.

RE: Metrolink
The service alterations from September 2015 are likely to produce some reaction , with the Bury - Altrincham service becoming Bury - East Didsbury. This could be to try and prevent the two busiest lines suffering from pertubation at the same time if problems occur at Bury or Altrincham.

Another change is the long route from Rochdale will go to Ashton .
