The government have allowed East Coast to "queue-jump" West Coast, so that it can effectively be re-privatised in 2015. Being honest East Coast has queue jumped as such , this has really been a franchise without a franchisee for a while and as such needs to be taken out of the public purse as soon as possible . What East Coast has is get the franchise on steady ground once more , it will be interesting to see who the bidders will be for this franchise , it will give a precursor to the bigger franchises to come . |

That must have a detrimental effect on capacity , isnt the accomodation attached to that coach what is termed as a hybrid coach depending on circumstances can be either a First or Standard Class Coach. |

RE: Virgin Trains
I have been reading that the position of the Virgin Super Voyager fleet is not really secure beyond the current franchise extension end. Is it the alack of capacity on some Anglo-Scottish services that is the stumbling block and the fact that if they operate in double formation that they need a second set of Onboard Staff , there has even been talk of a Mini pendolino with maybe six , seven or maybe eight coaches to replace them . 221144 was disbanded because 4 cars where insufficient and Virgin was finding it increasingly difficult to roster the 4 car sets to suitable work , something that Arriva Cross Country are finding to there peril with the 220 Fleet . |

The proposed route from Shrewsbury - London Euston service has been thrown out by Network Rail , and will not take place with the December timetable change as planned. Virgin Trains are expected to appeal this decision. |

More to this than just NR saying "no"....its all to get back at Virgin for taking them to court. DfT have apparenly gone ballistic at NR..... |

RE: Virgin Trains
At the best i think Network Rail are trying to say that they can not reliably get the Virgin Trains timetable to run properly as it stands what hope have they with a reversal at Stafford , one delay could escalate badly if say it fails in the platform . |
