Ticketer new Touch in Touch out
I have seen First Group and Go Ahead areas getting the system installed. I came across this system in Sydney, Australia that has a graduated fare structure, two years ago. Initially, it took me a while to remember to tap out. Failure to do so resulted in being charged for the full length of the route even if I only travelled a few stops. Needless to say, I got the hang of it fairly quickly.

If someone had a flat fare though on services I think it would be the exact same as Oyster, no tapping out since irrespective of tapping out, the same fare would be charged. |

Can you imagine the havoc and slow entry and exit if you had to tap off a bus , easier on the tube because you have all the time in the world , the bus companies or soon to be the case of TfGM and Merseytravel would soon see it as detrimental to a service running on time without some extra running time . |

The idea being just tap quickly as you walk past. Well Stagecoach would have to get ERG to make a system. I was chatting to a driver from Oxford last week about the system and was told the system has issues. As you have to let the driver turn off the reader before putting a card on the reader for any other item like a day return or child fare or they get charged the full fare. as it would charge them and they would have to tap out or get voided. |

So boarding is like everyone has a pass. And getting off people just need to touch out if they don't they would get charged the max fare for that trip. Same as metrolink it does not take long to touch out so long as people are ready with the card. |

I just cant see a tap off system working one of the reasons the system was never really introduced in London , the tube is different because there is a natural obstacle , the ticket barriers. |
