It could also be for engineering trains as well because it is the easiest route for engineering trains to take for access to Birkenhead North to New Brighton & West Kirby lines. I live in Woodchurch about 10 - 15 minutes walk from Upton station on the Bidston - Wrexham route and from my property I can easily hear engineering trains leaving the area when route possessions have ended and the track is handed back to merseyrail, when the loco/s are in full thrash hauling the engineering trains away from the area on a clear night it's quite something to hear. |
