July 2014 will see a line closure at Huyton for the re-instatement of the third track to give access to the Wigan Line. At the same time Huyton Signal Box will close and its functions transferred to the new Manchester Rail Operations Centre at Ashburys. With the later re-instatement of the fourth track this will make it possible for freight trains to be passed.
More paths will be needed for freight anyway with the possible re-opening of Seaforth Container Terminal in connection with the Liverpool2 port extension. Rumours are that if this happens Garston CT will close.

Not always two 156's, but there are quite a few workings booked for four cars in the morning and evening peaks into Lime St.
My educated guess is that you won't see eight car 319's. On both routes out of Lime St there are several platforms that will not accommodate them. They do not have selective door opening. More likely will be more frequent services.

It will lead to a complete recast of the timetable , it probably wont look anything like it is at the moment with the the extra trans pennine service also to be fitted through in a gap , dont forget that is booked non stop Liverpool - Manchester Victoria , i am surprised TP havent seen potential in St Helens Junction , but fitting the service in is probably dictating why it cant stop.

There will be plenty of rejigging. The TPE service starts well before the electrics or the extra lin at Huyton, so plenty more changes to come!

The reason the TPE's are not stopping at St Helens Junction is the need for speed. They promise to get the Liverpool - Manchester journey time down to 32 minutes.

The line between Edge Hill and St Helens Central/Earlestown is closed from 5-13 July. This is to enable work to take place in the Roby/Huyton area for new points, track and signalling. The signal box at Huyton will close and be removed during the work.
