New, improved? Refurbished they may be, but these units are the best part of 25 years old!

Two points here. Why would they train the staff to work the trains if they were not going to operate them, and there are no other surplus AC units in the UK at present.
I did clearly say that it would be a joke if they dont use them on That Service being the Liverpool - Manchester Airport line after them promoting them for that service, i never said they would not use them at all
Not sure where May has come from, early March is now hoped for Lime St to Manchester Airport.

Old coal workings?
After what is months of slow progress in the Leyland to Ordsall Lane section of the electrification there is progress at last with a major block at Chorley this weekend.
Work is progressing on preparations for installing the 4th track at Huyton. The half of the bus station nearest to the railway has now been closed and fenced off.
