The order is actually for 45 units, the additional six being for EUS-WFJ which is to retain four car working.
Carriages 38423-25 to update 378223-25 to 5-car were noted at New Cross Gate depot on Tuesday.
The Euston to Watford Junction line is to remain 4 car. As more 378/2 are converted to 5 car the number of units available to work the line gets fewer. Only 378223-34/55-57 are still 4 car, and five units are required.
317708 has received London Overground livery
321414 still in London Midland livery was on the Romford-Upminster shuttle on Monday.

321413 has also been noted on the Romford to Upminster shuttles.
321413 and 321414 are on short term lease to London Overground for the Romford to Upminster shuttle.
321414 is now in LO livery.
321413 has also received LO livery. An interesting choice given these are only here for the short term. Still, this allows a bit of flexibility while the 315s (and subsequently 317s) are refreshed.

More importantly AGA drivers drive the trains for LO. Not many are 317 trained.

A fair few drivers will be trained as 317s have been regularly used on the Romford - Upminster branch (alongside 315s and 321s) for years. I think it was the December 2011 timetable change that changed the allocation from almost uniform 315s to mainly 321s. The 317s crept in not too long afterwards, and IIRC they also briefly had booked peak time workings on the Norwich and Shenfield routes.
