So today Spekes first day on the 79C has given us 3 different variants destinations -
"Widnes", "Widness", and "Widnes Greenoaks"
In bound we have - "Liverpool", "City Centre", and "City Centre Liverpool One"

Oh dear oh dear
Which buses were on the 79C please?
I seen a couple of Gemini 2s
The "Widness" blind was being corrected during the afternoon.

How do they end up with 3 different ones when they are all updated/ programmed by the same stick thing

They are probably using more than one code... there can be a number of variants of the same destination with different via points or terminal variants [e.g. Widnes Green Oaks or Vicarage Road or catch-all Widnes to fall back on]. The variant to be used would be shown on each trip on each running board.

Once you spot a balls-up, the USB stick can be reprogrammed in a few minutes, but then you would have to catch up with all the buses on allocation to reprogram one by one [I don't know of any destination screens which are live internet updated as yet, though it's possible]. So there would be good and bad versions on the road at the same time.
Bit more of a mix on 79C this morning, although seemingly more B7s than anything else.
