Latest news is that Go-Ahead have won the tender for new orbital routes W4/ W6. I am not sure when these will start.
Some pictures from today of two very different types!

Enjoy the weekend!
There was a time that route 79 was not only allocated older buses but only single-deckers as the clientele couldn't be trusted with anything better. Times have changed, routes 79/A serve areas under development and Dublin Bus only have two single-deckers now and which go nowhere near Cherry Orchard.

I spent an hour or so on St Stephen's Green on Friday evening, to photograph some of the evening extras, I have included a number here:

VG5 St Stephen's Green 29 April 2022 - One of the VG class on Route X32. DB have 50 of these but around half are in store as they formed the backbone of the Airlink service which has been discontinued.

HWD3 St Stephen's Green 29 April 2022 - One of the three Hydrogen fuelled buses on the 103X. These have only recently returned to service.

182D23470 St Stephen's Green 29 April 2022 - Ashbourne Connect Enviro400 on the 194.

VWD4 Merrion St 29 April 2022 - Very different to the hydrogen buses, this is one of the oldest B9TLs with BÉ.

Route 17A, currently operated by Go-Ahead is to be replaced on Sunday 29th of May with Routes N4 and N6. N6 is to be operated by Go-Ahead with a daytime frequency of every 10 minutes. This route mirrors the 17A as far as Ballymun where it goes on a new routing and terminates in Finglas. The N4 is to be operated by Dublin Bus and is to operate on a 10 min frequency, reducing late evening to every 20 mins then operates every 30 mins throughout the night upto 5ish and then back to the daytime frequency. This will be the first orbital route to go 24 hours and provides a link between the Docks, Howth Road, Collins Avenue, DCU, Finglas and Blanchardstown.
Some pictures of the 17A:

11911 Glasnevin Avenue 11 May 2022 - Interior has been refurbished with new seat coverings etc.
Today is the last day of the 17A, should be finishing up by 23.30, around the time the Champions League final will be finishing at this rate. Some pictures on the last day:

11912 Kilbarrack Parade 28 May 2022 - at the eastern end terminus.
Took a short trip on the N4 this evening, has a high PVR as I counted 15 different buses on it.

Following on from my comments on the N4, I travelled on the N6 this evening, this is operated by Go Ahead. This replaces the eastern part of the old 17A but covers some new sections of route, good bus territory but 'lively' parts of the northern suburbs. I will not be taking pictures in these areas..
I counted 16 buses on the evening service.

11525 Drogheda Mall, Finglas 1 June 2022 - I predict that this destination will be changed. Yes it does go to Drogheda Mall, but where is that? Its in Finglas Village and it makes far more sense to call this Finglas Village.
Apparently the destination on the N6 changed on Thursday morning to Finglas Village! Makes far more sense.

SG359 Pearse St 8 June 2022 - The SG class feature on the C1 and C2 routes in the peaks, generally the PA class dominate.

SG49 Pearse St 8 June 2022 - Operating peak hour only service to Adamstown Station, a far chunk of this is on dual carriageway albeit limited to 80 kmh/ 50 mph, which the buses can't reach due to speed limiters.
I was over in the west in Galway last weekend. I had an hour or so to spend on Eyre Square/ at Galway Station, so took a few pictures.
The Bus Éireann city fleet is fully in the hands of the PAD class. BÉ like to give their city fleets triple lettered suffixes. I may have mentioned in the past that the PAD fleet is numbered in conjuction with the DB fleet, so there is no PAD1, its a bit complicated. Rumour has it that Go-Ahead are getting 24 of these and as GAI use numeric only fleet numbers, another numbering system could be introduced.

VB489 Galway Station 10 June 2022 - The VBs are taking over most PSO local rural routes. The 350 is a very scenic route between Galway and Ennis but serves the Cliffs of Moher. It is on the to-do list.

09G20227 Eyre Square 10 June 2022 - It was in service. This was only recently delivered and nice to see it before painted. The fleets of Enviro400s continues to grow.

The Pride Parade was on in town today, so I avoided the city whilst the main events were on, very large crowds and chaos is no fun. Having said that I started off in the Airport and it was borderline chaotic buswise. I took a risk and travelled on a clapped out Dublin Coach to the Red Cow where I saw their more modern fleet (ie coaches that are intact at present)...

181KK1442 Dublin Airport 25 June 2022 - Unusual visitor to the airport and not up to JJ Kavanaghs usual very high standards.

11589 George's Quay 25 June 2022 - Go-Ahead don't operate city centre services so this is a rare visitor.

Have a good weekend.
