It has been reported a number of times that the double deckers operate the 31 as its close to the depot. If it's suddenly required in Liverpool, then the driver would make the return trip to St Helens and then run out of service to where it's needed.

I don't think anybody has said about its PVR until now. Single deckers can sometimes run with one or two onboard but very often it's half full of seated passengers.
