Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
RE: Stagecoach Manchester
I meant to report yesterday that 17180 has been in the yard outside Stockport garage for a few days. It is in Stagecoach national livery but I haven't seen it in service yet. Maybe it is for school services or to replace a Spectra?

This would be a transfer from Hyde Road then, formerly a 168/169 Olympic cover bus.
My hunch would be it's about to go Magic.

I had also seen short ex-London Trident 17239 on route 168 during the Olympics. So it seems that a few former London TAs and TASs have come to Manchester with no differentiation between lengths.

I think there were 11 in all. The seating capacity is marginally less than the Enviro400's and I think the plan always was for at least some of them to go Magic after the Olympics to replace the retiring Volvo Olympians.

At a guess i would say the Tridents are at AZ mainly for school's but will creep out onto normal services.

Im not too surprised to hear about AZ's Enviro200's cropping up at ST, and i wouldn't be too surprised if a few end up at ST for good. One the remaining MAN's go from AZ i would think Enviro200's will only be used on the 217/218 and 346's, and then on evening services like at present.

During summer reduction the 236/237 and 347 have mainly been double deck opererated, i would think with the extra vehicles transfered from Sharston they will probably stay d/d operated.

Have to say in the 3 years ive worked up in Glossop i dont think a Trident has ever been used on 236/237's, hopefully that will change Smile

Just seen one of them 2 tridents on the 237 night trip go through hadfield, they have been used on the 236/7 before as I found this pic a while ago http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AzpqLjRiV3o/Sc...751638.jpg

Yep I'm well aware that they have been used in the past. The ex Mayne's were at AZ briefly in the 3 years I've worked up in Glossop it's always been MANs, Enviro200/400s and of course the trusty magic olympian.
Wish I'd known it was out in service tonight as wouldn't have minded a trip on one on that particular route.

Yes they would have been used years ago when tridents were the modern buses of the time.
It'll be interesting to see how these 'elderly' buses will cope with the hills these days though. Smile

I miss them Magic Olympians which were 16090 and 16103 before that one, very comfortable rides in the dark was the best thing about them

RE: Stagecoach Manchester
Plenty of photos on Flickr of 10045 (with the 76 branding) at Heaton Park for the bus rally today. Also a few pics of 10051 in service over the weekend.
