Ex Arriva NW Palatine II's
RE: Ex Arriva NW Palatine II's
I know this is getting slightly off topic but, I thought the idea was to completely transform the bus (as it says), both inside and out, not just stick some vinyls on the livery!

EDIT: reading the T&Cs
Quote:Entrants are asked to design the interior and exterior of the bus, which will be permitted to travel around the country but will not be in service.
Designs must include at least three detailed designs; the exterior of the bus (front/back/sides), the interior of the bottom deck & stairs and the interior of the top deck.
They must also include a detailed list of equipment and materials needed to recreate the design.

Looks like Arriva couldn’t be bothered to do it as they said they would!

I wonder if the DLA was just a quick mock-up as PR to announce the winner and the real work is yet to be completed on 3283? If the DLA is the real thing it's definitely very scaled back from the original concept.

RE: Ex Arriva NW Palatine II's
I'd imagine its either that SNL 824, or theyve found a problem with 283 such as chassis rot (not stereotypical of a volvo olympian, i know) and decided to use a DLA.

It doesnt look particularly arty though to say the least.

More relevant to topic however, more work on N302 CKB - Welding completed above engine cover now just needs hinges fitting and the cover put on.

Painting has continued and should mostly be finished by the end of next week.

Interior - Upstairs has been changed back to its original seating arrangement (all seats facing forward, 2 extra sets (to seat 4 people) added at the back as was when new.
Torn or missing wall carpet/moquette has been replaced and poles/bars been given a lick of paint.

Should see it out and about again for the Wirral bus and tram in October.

Excellent news - this is one bus I'm really looking forward to seeing back on the road. Thanks for the update.

It appears 3324 has turned up at Ellie Rose of Hull, joining 3315 and 3326 there.

The driver that wanted it often took it to various rallies... including wirral bus and tram in 2009 and 2010. He did say he was hoping to buy it but havnt spoke to him since 2010 so who knows whether he wants it or not!

3291/0291 (N291 CKB, Now VIL 8680) is currently on ebay, interesting as it was bought, private plated and refurbed by Blakewater coaches, since sold to a company in Oldham, now up for sale again!

To my knowledge blakewater still have 3303 (VIL 8681, N303 CLV), but they also had 3298 which has since been sold to deckerbus. dont think that got refurbed like 291 and 303 did though.
