As I went to Edinburgh for Easter, I travelled via Preston both ways. The 06.17 from Heaton Chapel to Preston on Good Friday, I think originating from Alderley Edge, was diesel (150 + 156), as were most trains passing me the other way via Bolton. Conversely, on Easter Sunday I caught the 19.08 from Preston to Manchester Piccadilly but this was electric (319). Maybe more Horwich line trains are electric on Sundays but will have to wait until the May timetable change to go electric daily. |
