The Driver either needs to reset the bus or, quicker option, open the doors using the emergency door control, then they will work from the buttons in the cab. Im sure the majority of drivers in Rock Ferry would have already experienced that problem on the Enviro 200s.

Many times.. often the cab door controls just completely stop responding. I am aware that engineers have been on an adl course regarding these common faults.

These door issue happen on Arriva Sapphire Enviro400's in Chester as well problem is if they work fine on walk around check then bus goes out

Once they fail eventually you phone depot and take fitters advise (presume stagecoach do it the same way) with them doors one day can be fine next faulty and once reset bus they work fine

It's also worth pointing out that when "new", vehicles have just had a 4 hour thrash flat-out down the M74/M6 - which they are not designed for.

That's 4 hours of being rattled around, with the doors taking a battering from the slipstream. It's no wonder there's problems with their first few days of service.

Other than those niggles what has been the passengers reaction to these vehicles .

I would if I was a passenger on the Stagecoach X2 be asking why aren't we getting the Gold service , if they aren't .

I'm currently 'road testing' the new Enviro 300's & my first impressions are that they're rather good! Sampled three so far (currently on SN65ODE) & a couple of other passengers have commented how nice they are too.

My one small criticism is that although there are USB chargers, there aren't many of them but other than that, I'm impressed!

Our driver has just announced that the rest of Rock Ferry's routes are to become gold in the future? 471/472 early next year & 38, 41 & 42 later next year. Not heard about that anywhere else though.

I had heard that the 472 is going gold next year and that the 41/2 the year after, but not the 38.

Just driven past 27259 on the 42 (might have been the 41, can't remember) this afternoon, and 28551 was on the 41 earlier.

RE: Stagecoach Chester & Wirral
I can understand the 471/2 becoming a Gold route, but the more routes that get changed to it, the less impact it has to passengers - particularly if almost all routes on Wirral are going to be in Gold livery, then to the unassuming passenger - that is simply the new identity of Stagecoach.

That said, the 472 doesn't -really- need Gold; the reduced capacity would probably cause more harm than the good that a nicer interior would bring. They should just do what Arriva have done and get a nice-but-not-quite-Gold specification so that the peak time capacities are not impacted, yet they are offering a comparable experience to Arriva.

As for the comment about chargers - it's the same with Arriva's Sapphire vehicles - eventually people learn which seats have sockets and try to sit there, and if there are passengers like me - some will be considerate and sit elsewhere when they know they're not going to need one. It will take a bit of time but eventually passengers will self-organise without realising.

RE: Stagecoach Chester & Wirral
I read that any new vehicles would have USB charge up sockets near all seats but not sure how it would work out at the back seat.

I have to agree that there is no point going gold on 38, 41/41A/42 and 471/472 because as they DO NOT need gold specification. Probably facilities to charge phones would be handy. That being said, the only other thing required is longer vehicles for decent capacity.
