They're all 9.2m...

I'm not sure what mechanism allows Chester CC to have a say on the services - but they are putting money towards the "better" vehicles. Perhaps its through some city-centre improvement initative.

There is no chance of Stagecoach ordering E500s, which are aimed primarily at the export market. First ordered a few some years back - and they have been far from successful. Fuel consumption is particularly high, and spares for the engine (a slightly different Cummins unit to Enviro200s/400s etc) are hard to come by in Europe.

If there really is a need for more capacity on a route, then a frequency upgrade is the first port of call.

That is strange! It could be some database fluke getting mixed up with the Wrexham-Chester Sapphire, with Google assuming it is a Wrexham to Liverpool service, but I seriously doubt it. How bizarre!

They could be used by stagecoach and arriva on overground only routes especially at the busiest times of the year they would be very handy. Massive capacity increase therefore more fares and revenue for the companies.

I've just pulled the following API request for Birkenhead Bus Station Stand 6 and got a perculiar response:

{
"atcocode": "2800S22043F",
"smscode": "meramwjm",
"request_time": "2015-10-17T15:00:09+01:00",
"bearing": "",
"stop_name": "Birkenhead Bus Station",
"departures": {
"1": [
{
"mode": "bus",
"line": "1",
"direction": "Bus Exchange (Chester)",
[undefined=undefined] "operator": "2605",[/undefined]
"aimed_departure_time": "15:09",
"dir": "inbound",
"date": "2015-10-17",
"best_departure_estimate": "15:09",
"source": "Traveline timetable (not a nextbuses live region)"
},
{
"mode": "bus",
"line": "1",
"direction": "Bus Exchange (Chester)",[undefined=undefined]
"operator": "2867",[/undefined]

"aimed_departure_time": "15:09",
"dir": "inbound",
"date": "2015-10-17",
"best_departure_estimate": "15:09",
"source": "Traveline timetable (not a nextbuses live region)"
},
{
"mode": "bus",
"line": "1",

[undefined=undefined]"operator": "2605",[/undefined]

"aimed_departure_time": "15:29",
"dir": "inbound",
"date": "2015-10-17",
"best_departure_estimate": "15:29",
"source": "Traveline timetable (not a nextbuses live region)"
}
]
}

You'll note that there are two listed operators for this service: 2605 & 2867, the second of which is running a service at the same time as the first at 15:09. Given that this data is sourced through Traveline, and therefore via VOSA, could this mean that Arriva is taking over some of the 1 journeys from Stagecoach at some point, and a data glitch has caused a premature leak?

It does...but none of the Solos transferred are 8.5m, they're all 9.2m/9.5m (essentially the same size vehicle that grew with emission requirements - just like the M850 becambe M880)

To be fair, I do agree that it would help if certain publishers would check their info!

It's not like this info is a closely guarded secret either - it's published on plenty of sites (BLOTW being the bible!). Seating is a tricker area IMHO - but there's no excuse for getting lengths wrong.

To help your records Dentonian - this years Stagecoach Solo SR order is all M9200 (9.2m), except for 48021-5 (Norfolk Green) and 47967-80 (Midlands Goldline) which are M9900s (9.9m)

It's an error. The operator code (as above) is what google have defined as "Arriva in Wales", where as all other tunnel services are classed as "Arriva North West/Merseyside".

It is highly doubtful that Chester Depot would operate such a service, and the only North West/Wales service left for conversion this season is the 263 at Manchester once the X1 service is launched.

It's interesting that it's occurred at all and that it is specifying Sapphire. I guess it could be a conflict between Wrexham and Liverpool's 1's, but I don't understand how the operator got mixed up- it would be more understandable if Arriva ran both services.
