RE: Stagecoach Chester & Wirral
The Formby bypass is very exposed considering its location geographically on the corner of the Mersey and the Irish Sea , the M53 is not so exposed geographically. |

If Chester is to get Enviro400s, what will happen to the 300s, will they replace the eclipse on the blacon pointers? |

That was in competition with both the Arriva 47/48 (4 buses per hour) and the Liverpool-S'port rail link (4 trains per hour). Despite this, Stagecoach gradually enhanced the service from hourly high-floor single-deckers to brand new Scania Enviro400 double-deckers running on a 30-minute frequency. Whether people like it or not, all major bus companies these days employ highly paid business graduates who have little initial interest in buses but do know how to develop and grow a business model. It is very rare that Stagecoach's initiatives fail to bear fruit: it only takes time. |

There is a standing load most mornings on the X8 between Chester and Ellesmere Port. Quite a lot get on from Chester Rail Station to Hoole Roundabout. Id say the majority are college students. |

I think the success of this route looks like its tapping the market along the Hoole Road to Ellesmere Port and Liverpool , a market that has been a bit slow to show to its head but is now starting to show some fruit , not sure there is enough yet throughout the day for double deckers , but Stagecoach unfortunately cant just run them in the peak hours , they'll have to be used all day . |
