i think it used to be
230 mcr - tesco droylsden every 30 mins( then ext to ashton via curr 168/9 route) at odd times
231 mcr - littlesmoss peak hours i think
232/3 mcr - ash - moss - staly - duki - mcr every half hour combined one via brushes est the other via carrbrook
234/5 mcr - duki - staly - moss - ash - mcr every half hour combined one via brushes est the other via carrbrook
233/235 operated hourly on sundays bet tameside h - town (todays 231 route)

then 232-5 ashton mossley stalybridge section and 220/222 stalybridge - mcr routes was replaced with 217/8
leaving
231 extended from littlemoss to ashton via tameside h
217/8 extended
221 left to peak hour journeys

hope this helps

Virtually right although the original 230 ran between Manchester and Tesco Droylsden until around 2003 and was dropped, then for some reason a couple of years later Mayne's registered a new 230 between Manchester and Ashton via the 168/169 route [up Taunton Road], and it was half hourly at peak then one every hour during the day. It was in retaliation for something Stagecoach had done but I can't remember what.

The 231 was similar with two per hour at peak and then one an hour during the day.

RE: Stagecoach Manchester
Thanks for your explanations, I vaguely remember these services, but don't know the area too well.

Its a shame places like Mikklehurst, Dukinfield, Stalybridge and Mossley will loose their Manchester bus link. Its sad that Stagecoach didn't extend the 216 to such communities to ensure they have the link.

mossley has lost both its routes to mcr because checkmate are also losing the c20 which works from mossley to town before/after its working of 220

duki and bridge are deemed to have freq enough buses 330/346/348 to ashton to link to the 216/9 which a lot of people do as this is quicker than going round the( prevebial) houses

the only part losing out is the section from the old mossley hollins (micklehurst) site to carrbrook

I think 17239 is the only ex London Trident to be put into the Magic livery, the rest remaining in corporate livery. Its been like that for a while now.

Speaking of Hybrids and non Hybrids, I counted no less than 4 standard Enviro400's on the 219 yesterday all in the space of about 45 minutes.

Middleton may well have gained route 171 at around the same time as losing route X5 to Stockport.

With both routes 197 and 219 using some standard Enviro400s, it seems that there are insufficient working E400Hs for route 50.

i have dug out a timetable from 29/10/2007 and you are slightly off with the details i was near enough correct
the 231 was every 12 mins-15mins(roughly) from 625-925(inbound) and 1621-1915 (outbound) m-f then the eve jnys as it is now
5 jnys in the morning 627,717,737,837,917 plus 1820,1850 then the eve jnys as it is now
plus hourly on sundays all day

the 230 was an strange freq service to ashton
from abs
1020/35 then **20/**35 until 1620 (m-f)
920 then **20/**35 until 1735 (sat)
from mcr
850 then **35/**50 until 1435 (m-f)
850 then **35/**50 until 1650 (sat)

you are correct as i put it ran to tesco originally it was every 30 mins i was unaware it got withdrew for a while tho

Middleton gained the 171 in September 2013. At the same time, the X5 transferred to Stockport and the 291 transferred to Hyde Road.
I think the most likely explanation for the increase in standard Enviro400's on the 197 and 219, along with still a few on the 50, is that the hybrids are being spread around other routes to see how they will cope, as in future years, Stagecoach will be applying for further Green Bus Funding and they will have to give some assurance that the routes they say are suitable for the hybrids.

Enviro 400H, 12223 (SK63AVB) was one of the vehicles at the North West Museum of Road Transports "I can't believe it's not a Leyland" event today.

SD.

Sadly 12223 easn't as of yet insured to carry passengers, so could carry anyone when it participated in the cavalcade.

I find that rather hard to believe when it's been allocated to Hyde Rd since early December! More likely the insurance didn't cover use for that style of event.
