Stagecoach Manchester
RE: Stagecoach Manchester
Interesting story in one of the local Glossop rags tonight with regards to the recent changes to the 236/7.
Apparently Stagecoach made the changes following a long campaign to improve the service around Hollingworth, Tintwhistle and Hadfield by local councillors, who wanted larger buses, and a more frequent service (presumably it just refers to the 237!).

Something I wasn't aware of was that the 'new' 236/7 service is a trial until later in the year, and if it successful stagecoach have also promised to reinstate a service from Glossop - Tintwhistle - Hyde service ( along the lines of the 397).

As a regular user of the service I have to say things do seem to be running ok, although daytime 236's do seem to be a lot quieter than previously. The only issue is in Ashton bus Station where often 236/7's turn up while the 217/218 is at the stand so passengers are forced to board in the middle of the carriageway.

22142 sounded a lot better than quite a few of its younger 'colleagues'.So what happens to them after the Olympics then?

Nicholas said he's been told they may be leaving after the Olympics. I take that to mean at least some of them will be scrapped, though a few of the better ones will probably be transferred.
I actually thought 22142 had already left as it's down as belonging to Aberdeen on the UK Fleet List. Looks like it's come home for an Olympic Holiday.

I don't think it's ever been to Aberdeen-just a longstanding mistake on the list.

Plenty of B10M's and non-accessible B10BLE's around the country that they could replace. Would quite like some more in Cumbria, as long as they are better than the 2 ex Manchester ones currently at Lillyhall, 22104 is very underpowered and 22108 appears to have lots of problems engaging gears.

RE: Stagecoach Manchester
It seemed to be very random the manner in which Stagecoach Manchester dispersed the MAN's around the country last year-almost as if they drew numbers out of a hat. One bus that always[when I was on it] struggled on even the most minor of gradients was 22152 which fortunately headed up to Glasgow. However one or two of the others that went in the same batch were very much the opposite-good for their age

RE: Stagecoach Manchester
I suppose there has to be a degree of balance in what gets sent. If they just sent all the worst ones they'd be back in an instant, rejected. So they probably just send some rubbish and some half decent each time. Probably a million other things to consider as well, must be an interesting (though challenging) job to be Fleet Manager.
