RE: Merseyrail
Any idea as to where it is now? And if/when it will be back in service? |

RE: Merseyrail
A great 6 car on the Southport line today: 507001 and 507002, the Royal Special units paired together nearly 35 years on. The last two 507s, 507032 and 507033, were also a pair. Loadings on the line were very strong today despite the more autumnal weather, illustrating how much the weekend pairs need to be kept on year-round. Both 507020 and 508120 still haven't had their graffiti removed. 508120's tag has been there for months now, since June at least.

RE: Merseyrail
507003 was in service today on the Southport line alongside 507011, so the damage it sustained was evidently not severe. 508137 returned to service in the last couple of weeks following overhaul, with its front ends looking very clean. Today was the turn of 508124, which was outside Birkenhead North depot this evening with overhaul work completed.

RE: Merseyrail
508124 was the first refurbished 508 to return to service if I remember correctly so my guess is that 508110 or 508108 should be next in line. 508108's interior looks worse and worse by the day and the lighting circuits are messed up. 508110 also has a few doors which are consistently failing and causing delay. |

RE: Merseyrail
The first refurbished unit to return to service was actually 508110, followed by fellow previously stored units 508108, 508131 and 508120. The first of the previously in service units to undergo refurb and take to the tracks was 508103. That being said, 508124 was relatively early in the programme. Other than the likes of 508108/110, which I'm not sure about, units which will be amongst the next few to receive overhaul will be 507010, 507015, 507031, 507033, 508140, 508141 and 508143.

RE: Merseyrail
508143 will have relatively low mileage compared to others after its prolonged period out with the PIBT fault a few years vack |

RE: Merseyrail
Yep, that's the one. Isn't 508143 a notorious demic, hence it's long periods out of service? |

RE: Merseyrail
There have been varoius trains out of service over the years... in fact, its hard to think of many that have bravely soldiered on without any incidents, prolonged time out of service or collisions. 507001, 507021 spring to mind (and they're my favourite units!!) |
