As it stands at this very minute in time , there is just one Three Car circuit in operation on the Hunts Cross - Southport line all other services on that line are Six Car diagrams today .

Shocking that Chester didn't get any 6-cars, on one of the busiest race days I've seen for a while. 12,000 additional passengers today!

Combined with Mersey River Festival, along with loads going to Chester Zoo, this has invariably led to full loadings in both directions.

Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.

To be honest First Class i was surprised as well , particulary on a very sunny day when it looked like nobody wanted to stay at home .

RE: Merseyrail
Looks like six cars for all lines today. This is impressive from Merseyrail - finally supply being met with demand on the Northern Line. Let's hope it continues.

I also think the the Summer Sunday service should be introduced between Southport and Liverpool Central for the four Sundays on the run up to Christmas as well. A half hourly service be it six cars is not good enough these days on one of the premier lines on the system.

A familiar 'double 0' six car on the Southport line this PM - 507003 and 507007. Two great units paired there for my money. Also had the pleasure of 508117 which has to be my favourite 508 by a clear distance. Very smooth unit with a fine turn of speed, although I'm not sure what unit it was coupled with this evening.

RE: Merseyrail
I was on 508110 the other day and the front door nearest to the driver kept on getting jammed. So he kept on having to get out and force it shut. I wish something would be done to improve the reliability/speed of the doors opening/closing

In the end i suspect that the doors were locked out of use as continually having to force the doors shut isnt good for timekeeping and may if forced too often bring them off there runners.

Anyone know what went on in maghull early this morning? as the level crossing barriers came down at about 3:45-4am and they dont run passenger trains at that time could it have been an engineering train?
