RE: Merseyrail
Well it's possible he is signalling at the moment that CCTV still shows, or has even signalled already. Not all guards close the sliding door immediately from what I've seen, even recently.

RE: Merseyrail
Indeed it is possible he signalled the train then, but how do we know? I wonder if the court were shown the onboard footage onboard 508139? Particularly at Meols Station... |

As I understand, this is no longer allowed? I see it where guards ring the bell, then instantly close the local door. Ah the bone of contention. Guards in the past were always trained to carry out door procedures exactly as you describe, opening the local door as the train came to a stand&closing the door as the train was gaining speed. Then after the James street incident management instructed all guards to stick strictly to the rule book-even going as far as denying the original procedure existed&claiming guards were doing incorrect door procedures. Of course now with door procedures taking longer, trains were being delayed particularly in the peak and ppm figures were suffering. It was then decided by management to insert a local instruction clause into the rule book stating that the local door could now be opened as the train came to stand/closed as the train moved off. Sound familiar? Yep its the original procedure after all! |

RE: Merseyrail
Christopher McGee has been jailed for five years according to the BBC. I'm sorry, but that is an absolute disgrace and highlights what an utter mess our judicial system is in. This is a grossly excessive sentence for what was merely a tragic accident.

RE: Merseyrail
The girls mother has accused christopher Mc gee of showing very little if of all concern of safety towards her daughter and that what her daughter had done is only what most teenagers would do on a weekend but the girl was only 16 and was legless on alcohol and had taken drugs but its an offence to consume alcohol before the age of 18 and when did it become normal for teenagers to take drugs at weekends? in my point of view the girls old enough to take responsibilty for her actions and showed no concern to herself for being in that state on a railway there were other passengers on the train she could have put the train in danger Mc gees sentence is totally over the top. |

It is an absolute disgrace, a real shame. Not that it can do anything but rest assured a lot (and I mean a lot) of people are on the side of the guard. |

RE: Merseyrail
507026 and 508126 are the first two units to receive the cab air conditioning equipment at both ends, joining 507002 which has it fitted to carriage 64406. Unlike 507002, the small box below the secondman's side in the grooved area is yellow on these two.
