QBP Liverpool and Wirral
RE: QBP Liverpool and Wirral
I wouldn't even say Stagecoach has North Liverpool to be fair, on the contrary Arriva exclusively operates the 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10B, 12, 13, 15, 18, 26 and 27, plus they compete with Stagecoach on the 10A and 14. There are also the Bootle routes (52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 58) which all serve the Vauxhall and Kirkdale neighbourhoods of North Liverpool, plus the cross-city 60, 61, 62 and 68. I suppose you could argue there is less of an Arriva monopoly over the south side, but for me Arriva dominate the north as well if anything.

I do agree with your other point, however. Capacity is a greater issue for the majority of passengers than emissions standards or even bus age. More needs to be done on the 10, 82 and 86 in particular to improve space provision.

I'm more thinking about the 14/17/19/20/21/22/23/217/227 Liverpool-Kirkby corridor which have suffered most since single deckers replaced the old double deckers.

I think a better comparison between Stagecaoch regions would be between Merseyside and South Yorkshire (as they bought Yorkshire Traction 5 months after GTL). Over in South Yorkshire, services started with Darts, then Enviro 300's and the fleet over there now includes Enviro 400 (including some Hybrids) - I think (as in many cases) Merseyside is as ever the poor relation.

Has the management of Gilmoss changed much since Stagecoach took over? Is there a specific manager/director who just prefers single deckers?

Is management pay in any way related to investment into new vehicles? i.e. would they receive less money?

That's what I thought at one point about the management preferring single Deck. Another point I know Vandalism is bad but let's be honest every city has it, from Birmingham to Brighton, I just think that's an excuse not to invest in Double Deck vehicles.

Obviously once in a while a bus maybe empty , but once the school runs and rush hour panic begins buses become very busy I made the point earlier about people being left at bus stops in Myrtle Street, so double deckers aren't justified there? On the eastern and northern routes also? One passenger complained to Merseytravel saying since Stagecoach took over the buses were too small and a few more uncomplimentary words used.

The best example was mentioned earlier of Stagecoach Yorkshire they are very similar to Merseyside though I think the only way we may More Deckers from Stagecoach is via another company making competition on Northern Routes as they say 'Quality Partnership'
