Confirmation of the contract awards was made a week ago, so unless D&G decided not to bid, I think the date you heard was too early to be official information.

The only thing official that seems to have come out is 7 operators submitted bids. The incumbent operators for the contracts are D&G, Mikro, Hollinshead and Belle Vue. So if all those looked to retain routes there were 3 additional operators who submitted bids. (The current High Peak routes aren't included, unless the Sunday 130 was included).

Cheshire East say there's a total of 15 locally registered operators - I'm not sure how that figure is worked out?

RE: D&G Bus
Cheshire East press release confirms there will be a new 71/72/73 contract from 31 March. No mention of who will operate it yet.

RE: D&G Bus
From 31 March

D&G will take on the Congleton locals from Hollinshead.

They'll also run the Nantwich locals as routes 50, 51 and 52.

42 will get an additional evening journey

Macclesfield to Knutsford will become 87 and will be increased in frequency on weekdays with services entering Radbrook Hall, rather than stopping on the road by the Inn.

89 gets the early journey withdrawn, but an additional afternoon return working. Looks like the 188 and 89 will be operated by one vehicle, which will be separate to the 87/88.

Saturday services on 87/88/89 are relatively unchanged, except for the different service number.

130 timings will be revised, with more journeys running through to Wythenshawe.

D&G will no longer run a 312.

317 will get a Saturday service.

Presumably the 39 remains with Mikro, and the 316/8/9 remains with D&G on the same timetable.

RE: D&G Bus
So the 52, 53, 87, 90, 91 and 91 will require 5 additional vehicles, but the loss of the 312 will free up 1 and the 48 withdrawal will free up another. So an increase of 3 vehicles required. I wonder if they'll bring in anything new? While they seem to have a high number of spares, they also have a number of older buses that develop faults quite frequently.

RE: D&G Bus
48 being withdrawn or has it passed to another operator? Seems a big gap Northwich to Frodsham with no bus what so ever

RE: D&G Bus
I can't find any news on the 48. D&G have cancelled the registration and the service isn't in journey planners from 31 March, but there's nothing on D&G or Cheshire West website. I wonder if D&G have requested an increased subsidy to continue running it?

The Weaverham High pupils will need a bus one way or another.

RE: D&G Bus
D&G's Northwich shadow fares are interesting.

48 Northwich to Weaverham (3.5 miles) - £3 - presumably means nothing back from the government for each £3 ticket sale and likely a rate set with agreement from Cheshire West.
82 Northwich to Oakmere (7.9 miles) - £3
49 Northwich to Greenbank (1.3 miles, on the way to both Weaverham and Oakmere) - £3.20

I would also presume they'll take loads of Greenbank fares, while Oakmere will be few and far between, and most Greenbank and Weaverham passengers will use the more frequent 49 over the 48.
